Restoration of Beautiful Essex Grade II* Listed House & Garden – Rundle House, Essex.

Aralia were approached by Frankie & John to work with them on the restoration of their rural garden.  Aralia Landscape Architects were commissioned by these residential clients to produce a plan for the courtyard terrace of this historical Essex family home following a major refurbishment to their property. Taking inspiration from the beautiful newly refurbished interior of the property; Aralia incorporated contemporary elements into the clean and elegant style of the garden. The clients expressed the importance of privacy so Aralia added a row of Pleached tree’s in order to frame the courtyard area, creating a green façade that allowed the instant privacy required.

Contemporary sawn York stone paving and Jura Beige Limestone paving were introduced, together with more traditional elements including Box hedging and a line of Pleached Trees.  A bespoke oak pergola provides both a grand statement and a wonderful terrace to relax and entertain within – with an integral garden lighting scheme extending the use of this area late into the night.

‘The whole process through brief, design and final execution of the project was very professional and stress free. The overall vision and design of the courtyard is stunning. It has created beautiful new areas and privacy for dining and socialising, and it perfectly complements both the old and the new parts of the building. It also fits seamlessly into the rest of the garden. It has extended our living space out into the garden, and it’s an absolute joy to look out on and spend time in, thank you’.
