This derelict barn was in the process of being renovated into a stunning contemporary new build when Aralia Landscape Architects were approached to design the outdoor space. The renovation featured huge glass facades that afforded the house an amazing view over the garden and countryside. Aralia Landscape Architects knew it was essential to create a landscape that would reflect the quality of the architecture, softening the structure and complimenting the surrounding landscape. The outdoor space was split into multiple areas, each working cohesively but retaining a sense of uniqueness. The entrance was designed to celebrate the architecture of the building, with trees lining the main driveway, providing a sense of journey as guests arrive. The main terrace would provide a seamless link between indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring luxurious lounge style furniture and a fireplace; providing the perfect outdoor living space. Thanks to the sounds of a cascading water feature and the fragrant herbaceous planting, the terrace would also provide an indulgent sensory experience. A secondary terrace would serve as a breakfast terrace, capturing the longer views of the properties surrounding paddock and horses and catching the sunrise every day. Finally, a woodland area and natural pond would attract local wildlife and provide a beautiful natural area within the garden.
