CHELSEA CREEK PUBLIC REALM CONCEPT

CONTEMPORARY PUBLIC REALM SPACE FOR ST GEORGE CENTRAL LONDON

Aralia Landscape Architects were invited by St George to produce conceptual designs for the public realm space at Chelsea Creek London. Our innovative approach to public realm was utilized within this landscape design, with the main focus being to encourage social and aesthetic connectivity and to create a sense of community amongst the residents. Aralia Landscape Architects designed a dramatic central pergola walkway with glass overhead panels and steel rigging to cast unique and interesting shadows into the area beneath.  Seating areas within the pergola area provided both small intimate groupings and expansive tables for larger groupings.

A separate area adjacent to the water was designed to create the ultimate relaxation escape from the urban jungle that is London. Aralia included bespoke hardwood sun loungers and Pleached trees to create a relaxation area that residents could enjoy.  A central organic bespoke tree sculpture took Centre stage, and this portrayed the softer and more natural vibe that Aralia were looking to create. The soft, yet contemporary design, was to diminish the dominance of the towering adjacent buildings, and to create a natural oasis.  Due to time restraints on the development these conceptual designs were not implemented.

features include

Pleached Trees, Hardwood Bespoke sun loungers, Organic Bespoke Metal Tree Sculpture, Box-Head trees, Evergreen and Herbaceous planting, Glass Panels, Large Bespoke Pergola.
