Aralia Garden Design was awarded Gold in the category ‘Best Memory Garden’, by The New Homes Garden Awards, sponsored by Express Newspapers. The garden submitted was a Dementia garden for a new 61 bedroom care home ‘Park View Care Home’, in Ipswich. The care home is part of the highly successful First Care Homes Group and owners Helena Jeffery & Rob Jeffery were thrilled with the news. The newly created garden which was installed in March 2012 includes a wide range of features including rustic oak summerhouse and pergolas, stone bird bath, sculptural stone water feature, giant outdoor chess set, BBQ and dining area, an edible gardening area complete with potting shed, bench and dedicated raised beds. There is also a beautiful array of trees and plants, which although only planted this spring, are already developing into highly attractive borders.
‘ We have thoroughly enjoyed designing and installing our first Dementia garden’ says Patricia Fox ‘and we are thrilled to have received a prestigious gold award for our first attempt – it has certainly inspired us and we would love to design further Dementia gardens’.
