This client came to us last year, having tastefully updated the interior of her Victorian Cottage in Cookham, but not knowing how to approach the unloved weed-infested outside spaces.
The garden needs to serve as an escape from working stresses, as well as working hard to provide two entertaining zones – a dining area on the upper deck, and a sunny corner transformed into a tranquil and nurturing relaxing space, with a sleek concrete fire table and horizontal Western Red Cedar Screening softened by scented climbers. A parasol has been built in to create shade on the sunniest days.
The main view from the house, formerly of plain fencing, is now enhanced by mature hedging and a feature composed of laser cut art panels, back-lit to provide the wow factor into the evenings.
Planting is low key and low maintenance, whilst still providing seasonal interest and tying the garden to the surrounding ‘borrowed landscape’ of woodland.
The front garden has been smartened up, with new bullnosed natural stone steps to the front door and a tiled path that gives a subtle nod to the house’s Victorian origins.
LAWN, PERENNIAL PLANTING, MATURE TREES & HEDGING, ART PANELS, FIRE TABLE, PARASOL, GARDEN LIGHTING, IRRIGATION, COMPOSITE DECKING, PORCELAIN PAVING, NATURAL STONE STEPS, MINI OUTDOOR KITCHEN.
